Charles, Cosio, and Hennessy Earn All-Star Recongition

Flushing, N.Y.- The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced it's All-Star Selections for the 2023-2024 women's basketball season, with three student athletes from Hunter College earning recognition.

Alexa Charles from Tarrytown, N.Y. was named a to the First Team after her stellar season. As only a sophomore, Charles scored her 1,000th point this season in just 47 games and averaged a double-double. She was named conference Player of the Week five times this season and a 3x honorable mention. Charles was also named All-Met Div II/III Player of the Week on 2/5 and ranked first in the conference in Field Gold Percentage, and second in scoring, steals, and rebounds. 

Junior, Erin Cosio was tabbed a Second Team All-Star. Cosio led the Hawks in three-point scoring this year with 63, and averaged the third best in the conference at .333 and averaged 3.6 rebounds per game ranking top five in the league.

Nina Hennessy, Hunter's only senior this year, earned the conference's Sportsmanship Award. Hennessy started in all 27 games for the Hawks this year, and netted 31 three-point field goals to rank second on the team. She averaged five points per game and had a team high .875 average from the free-throw line.

The Hawks finished their season at 15-12 overall and 10-4 in conference play before falling in the CUNYAC Championship semifinals.
