SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Hunter men's volleyball faced a challenging Springfield Tri-Match on Saturday, competing against Endicott College and Springfield College in consecutive matchups. Although the Hawks couldn't secure a win, they showcased strong defensive play, notable individual performances, and moments of offensive momentum against formidable opponents.
Hunter opened the day with a tightly contested match against Endicott but fell in straight sets (19-25, 19-25, 25-27). Ahmed Mohamed spearheaded the offensive charge with 16 kills on .281 hitting, while also adding three aces and a block. Lucas George was effective at the net, registering four kills on a .429 clip, while Kyle Foley contributed seven kills and an ace. Felipe Delgado directed the offense with 17 assists, and Crisostomo Ibarra anchored the defense with a team-high nine digs. The Hawks pushed Endicott to extra points in the final set but were unable to extend the match.
In the second match of the day, Hunter fell to Springfield (14-25, 16-25, 13-25). Annes Deljanin provided an efficient offensive effort, recording four kills on .300 hitting, while Lucas George added three kills and two blocks. Felipe Delgado and Brandon Yeh combined for nine assists, with Yeh also contributing two digs. Crisostomo Ibarra continued his strong defensive presence with a team-high five digs, while Ahmed Mohamed contributed across the board with three kills, two blocks, and an ace.
Although the results didn't go in their favor, the Hawks showed flashes of strong play throughout the day and will look to regroup as they return to conference action. Hunter is set to face CUNYAC rival Baruch College on March 11.
