BOX SCORE FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's tennis team honored its graduating class in the team's annual Senior Day as they hosted Brooklyn College in a conference match.
The Hawks (1-4, 0-2 CUNYAC) fell 1-8 to the Bulldogs (5-5, 4-0 CUNYAC) in the team's final home match of the season. Hunter honored
Anil Singh,
Krishna Arya, and
Raymond Leu ahead of the match's start.
Alexander Haigu and Leu teamed up at No. 1 doubles, but ultimately fell 2-8. In the second doubles slot, Singh and
Savio Francis secured Hunter's lone victory of the day, with a 8-7 win. Arya and
William Zimmerman put up a fight in No. 3 doubles but was unable to overcome the Bulldogs, as the duo fell 2-8.
In singles play,
Joseph Zar battled in the first of two three-set matches for the evening at the No. 6 spot. After falling behind 4-6 in the first set, Zar secured a 6-4 win the second but dropped the final set, 7-10, as Brooklyn continued to dominate singles play. Freshman,
Martin Torterolo, battled at No. 7 but dropped the three set match (6-3, 3-6, 8-10), as Hunter fell in against the conference opponent.
The Hawks return to the court April 15 as they travel to York College for a 3:00 p.m. first serve.
