BOX SCORE BRONX, N.Y. — The Hunter College men's tennis team (3-4, 2-2 CUNYAC) extended its win streak to two matches on Wednesday afternoon, shutting out Lehman College (1-7, 1-3 CUNYAC) 9-0 at the APEX Courts. Fresh off a dominant performance the day prior at York, the Hawks carried that energy into the Bronx, winning all nine courts for the second straight outing and continuing to climb in the CUNYAC standings.
Hunter asserted itself early in doubles, executing clean, precise play to take all three courts while conceding just a single game. Alexander Hagiu and Raymond Leu opened with an 8-1 win at No. 1, while Anil Singh and Savio Francis posted a flawless 8-0 victory on court two. Joseph Zar and Martin Torterolo matched the result at third doubles to secure the early 3-0 lead.
The Hawks maintained their edge in singles play. Hagiu cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot, followed by Singh's 6-2, 6-0 result on court two. Leu continued the run with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 3 singles, and Francis took care of business on court four with a 6-0, 6-2 win. William Zimmerman earned a straight-set win at No. 5, and Krishna Arya wrapped up the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 finish at sixth singles.
The Hawks will look to stay hot on Friday, April 18, in a non-conference matchup at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Kings Point, N.Y.
