Flushing, NY – After suffering their first loss of the season on Friday night, the Hunter men's tennis team rebounded with a 7-2 victory over John Jay College on Saturday to improve to 5-0 in conference play, 8-1 on the year.

The Hawks put themselves in a good position early on by winning all three doubles matches. The young and talented duo of freshmen Yevgeny Perepelov (Brooklyn, NY/Keystone National) and Arthur Kapetanakis (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) took down John Jay's top team 8-1. At second doubles, junior Roy Forberg (Brooklyn, NY/AOSR) and sophomore Alex Stanciu (New York, NY/Locust Valley) had a closer bout, but still came out on top 8-4. In third doubles, the tandem of senior Noel Marrero (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and sophomore Ian Katz (Woodside, NY/American Studies) grabbed an easy 8-0 victory.

Perepelov got things going in singles action, defeating Josh Pagan 6-1, 6-2 at the top spot. Forberg was victorious over Ben Jorgensen 6-3, 6-3 at third singles, while Kapetanakis improved to 7-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Stephen Walz at fourth singles.
