POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Hunter College women's fencing team continued its 2025-26 season this past weekend at the Vassar Invitational, taking on strong competition and registering notable team and individual milestones.
Team Results
Facing Brown, Cornell, FDU, Sacred Heart University, Vassar College and Wellesley College, the Hawks fenced with persistence and energy. Hunter defeated Sacred Heart University by a 15-12 margin and came within three bouts of Vassar, falling 12-15 in a hard-fought match. Top performer was junior
Brean Tobin, who led with 11 wins.
Squad Highlights
- The foil squad, led by Brean Tobin, began the season in strong form, securing wins over FDU, Vassar and Sacred Heart, and narrowly losing to Wellesley by a 4-5 final bout.
- The épée squad, led by Katherine Hanin, posted a victory over Wellesley, showing depth and readiness across the strip.
- The sabre squad, led by Samantha Lin, opened the year with a win over Sacred Heart and a demonstration of strong team spirit in the season debut. Freshmen Ervuana Grand-Pierra notched her first collegiate win.

100th NCAA career win, underlining their leadership and sustained excellence for the program.
