A two-sport star, Hohenrath was a four-year letter winner in field hockey and served as team captain as a junior and senior. She went on to be selected to numerous local and regional Field Hockey Association teams that participated in top-notch national level tournaments. She also spent three seasons on the women’s basketball team and helped Hunter maintain its stature as one of the powerhouse programs in the New York City metropolitan area. The team posted a 29-4-1 record during her career and she was named team captain as a senior. She scored a three-year total of 344 points, averaging 14.3 points per game. She continued to play basketball and field hockey on a competitive level after graduation before going to coach basketball, bowling, field hockey, golf and softball at Walt Whitman High School in Long Island for three decades.
