One of the pioneers of athletics at Hunter, McCullom was a two-sport athlete competing in archery for two years and field hockey for three years. She was field hockey team captain as a senior, participated in the badminton and softball clubs for four years and was an outstanding intramural tennis player. She also served as publicity manager and vice president for the Hunter College Athletic Association and was named to Who’s Who Among American College Students in 1948-49. After graduating, she went on to establish the PSAL Tennis program in New York City in 1972 and coached Forest Hills High School to numerous PSAL tennis championships. She was a USTPA “A” rank player and has been a senior Olympian in New York State and nationally.
