Tush excelled as a wrestler at Hunter from 1983-85, posting a career record of 57-21-1. In his senior year, he compiled a 27-7-1 record, with just one dual meet loss. He was a Metropolitan Conference place winner, two-time NCAA East Regional place winner and placed in every tournament that he wrestled while at Hunter. In 1984, he qualified and participated in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. After graduation, he continued competing successfully on various levels from 1986-92, including international competition as part of the New York Athletic Club freestyle team.
