Sandra Vialet was a three-time All-American in track and field and competed in the first ever NCAA Championship for the sport. She earned double All-American honors as a freshman at the outdoor championship in 1982, finishing third in the nation in the long jump and fifth in the nation in the 1600 meter relay. Vialet again captured All-American honors as a senior at the 1985 indoor championship where she placed sixth in the nation in the long jump. Vialet holds the top spot on Hunter’s all-time performance list in the outdoor long jump (18’09.50), outdoor 400 meter relay (49.50 seconds), indoor long jump (17’10”), indoor 200 meter dash (23.22 seconds), and indoor spring medley relay (2:05.37). She also won several individual and team titles at the conference, state and regional levels of competition.
